As artists-in-residence at Trudo Eindhoven, Jheronimo Ypsilon explores what “Huisje, Boompje, Beestje” might mean in 2050. Through drawings and interventions we question ownership, belonging, and home, while opening up new ways of imagining living and togetherness.

Huisje, Boompje, Beestje 2050 explores how we imagine home, ownership, and belonging in the future. The Dutch expression “huisje, boompje, beestje” traditionally symbolizes stability, security, and comfort, yet this ideal is under pressure. With today’s housing crisis, shifting social structures, and growing mobility, having a permanent home and predictable lifestyle is no longer a given. From our own experience with temporary housing, we know how uncertainty and the absence of a fixed place affect both emotional and social well-being. As artists-in-residence at Trudo in Eindhoven, we use this expression as a lens to reflect on what home might mean in 2050. Through a growing archive of drawings and interventions, we combine emotions, memories, and visions of the future. The project opens space for new perspectives. Less tied to ownership, and more to values such as connection, flexibility, and collectivity.
