Wonderlijke Water Woningen

Wonderlijke Water Woningen — © Architectuurlessen

Architecture for kids aged 4 to 100

Landscape full of small water houses

During DDW ‘25, help us design a large landscape full of small water houses! Choose, cut, score, and paste the shape of your own house and create a matching roof. Will your wondrous water home be on top of, or near the water? And could you do something with all the rainwater that falls on the roof? You are the architect and decide how to deal with all the water around, on, and in your design. As you design, think about how we can smartly manage all the water around us in the future.

For all creative minds from 4 to 100 years old.

Dutch water culture

For centuries, we in the Netherlands have been designing with water. Whether to hold it back or to retain it, to block it or to break through—we design and build solutions. In our future, water will continue to play a decisive role. How do you envision living with water? And what do you feel is important? Do you consider safety and sustainability, or should living with water be primarily enjoyable? Or is there room for both in your small floating home?

You are welcome to join us in brainstorming and building on this issue from Monday to Friday between 1:30 PM and 4:30 PM.

Architectural model making

For an architect, an architectural model is an indispensable tool. A good model makes ideas for new spaces, buildings, and locations tangible. They're essentially prototypes that an architect uses to visualize a design in miniature, to scale, and thus facilitate discussion. But how do you ensure your ideas are well-received? And how can you make the most important elements of your design stand out?

About Architectuurlessen

Architectuurlessen stimulates the use of design thinking in education, with an emphasis on the development of creative, social and making skills. For this we use architecture as a cross-curricular theme.

With carefully designed teaching materials, we encourage children aged 4-18 to come up with creative solutions for visual, technical and/or social issues in collaboration.

This is our fifth contribution to the DDW, where everyone is welcome to inspire themselves and others.
