NEWBEEZZZ

Global warming is welcoming new species into our urban gardens. We live among them, but who are these newcomers and what are they pursuing?

NEWBEEZZZ NOCTURAMA — © Steffie Padmos illustrator Paul Peters architect

NEWBEEZZZ – migration, a project visualising insect migrations in the Netherlands, aims to shed light on these phenomena. Displaying these insects in public spaces fosters awareness of the dynamic urban nature.

Dynamic urban nature

The NEWBEEZZZ - Migration exhibition invites DDW visitors to interact as to inventorize the level of awareness of the dynamics in our population.
NOCTURAMA – once the name for the dark shelters of nocturnal animals – here becomes a sanctuary for outsiders. This co-exhibition with architect Paul Peters creates a possibility to shape a realm where whimsical, erratic forms dwell. They’re peculiar traits shaped by natural evolution in unusual, sometimes even bizarre, environments. Creating a world where surreal proportions disrupt our perceptions and point of view.
Where the everyday world is ruled by recognisable systems and rational efficiency, NOCTURAMA embraces the unknown.

Visitors can participate in an on set live created NEWBEEZZZ artwork to pay a tribute to the traditional inhabitants, the endless dynamic flow of newcomers and the everlasting eclectic mix this results in.

About Steffie Padmos illustrator

A background in art and a fascination for the natural world steered Steffie Padmos towards a Master’s Degree in Scientific Illustration, in the footsteps of tradional scientific illustrators and naturalists as Maria Sybilla Merian and Ernst Haeckel. Her evolution as an artist is evident as she explores a more contemporary approach that maintains it’s reverence for scientific subject matter. Steffie aims to evoke in viewers a deeper appreciation for our planet and it’s inhabitants.
