An ode to vegetables! Inspired by hunting traditions and the rise of vegetables, designer Suzan Hijink created her own ceramic antlers. With her colorful vegetable antlers, she brings a smile to your face, starts conversations about food, and places vegetables in the spotlight.
Vegetables in the Spotlight
Habits and traditions are inseparably linked to food. That one dish your grandmother used to make, or the daily ritual of sharing stories at the table. Food connects us—but what happens when wishes and opinions about food start to differ? Does food then come between us, or does it remain the familiar force that brings us together?
Vegetables are taking on an ever more important role, both in restaurants and in our own kitchens. Once a side dish, they are now increasingly stepping into the spotlight as the festive centerpiece.
The antlers on the wall also feel like a habit to me—a tradition that makes a place feel like home. And yet, how strange it is to hang dead animals on the wall. Time for a new, green version! Inspired by the antlers my father and grandfather hung on their walls, I created my own ceramic tableau. An ode to vegetables!
New Veggies
At Dutch Design Week 2025, Veggies on the Wall is expanded with two new works. Inspired by the first collection, but with a slightly different twist. Come see them at Design Perron.
