A contemporary reactivation of the Greek coffee reading ritual, using hand-brewed coffee, custom tablecloths, and clay fidgets to create a participatory space for storytelling, reflection, and connection.
Predicting Reflections
Rooted in a childhood memory of women gathered around a kitchen table, this project reactivates the tradition of Greek coffee cup reading as a practice of presence, care, and storytelling. At a time when algorithms claim to “interpret” coffee grounds, this work turns away from automation to revalue embodied ritual and intergenerational knowledge.
Through handmade tablecloths, sculpted clay fidgets, and the slow preparation of coffee, participants are invited into a shared space of reflection and conversation. The imprints in the cup become prompts for dialogue, not predictions, but openings to speak about grief, love, uncertainty, and hope.
This is not fortune-telling but a collective act of listening and connection, a quiet resistance to disconnection in today’s world.
