Harmonious coexistence of Human and Nature_

Walking in a forest, or simply seeing a beautiful tree in a garden or park, often invites us to embrace it, feeling its natural calming power. The forms and surfaces of Mycelium and Algae represent this embrace – symbolizing the relationships between Fungi and Algae, between people, and between Humans and Nature. These bonds, like close family ties, are essential for survival, existence and happiness – whether we think globally or live within a micro-environment. These objects, made entirely of organic materials, represent the harmonious coexistence of Humans and Nature. This small wooden house serves as a symbol of a human-created protective system: a place designed to shelter its inhabitants, the objects inside, or in this case, living organisms, from environmental impacts, weather conditions and harmful substances. The small windows and openings indicate that this is not a state of isolation, but rather a symbol of protection that is visible, open and accessible to everyone. It is important to emphasize that it is we, humans, who must protect the natural environment around us so that it may survive for the future. In return, nature can reward this care and attention.

Mycelium and Agar foil are the questions, the hypothesis and the solutions_

Fungi and Algae are with us all the time, weaving their way around the universe, filling the void, feeding the continuity necessary for existence. They give back to Mother Nature what they temporarily borrow. In this project, the fusion of this two materials creates objects, packagings and reliefs that symbolize protection, transparency and interconnection.
The chosen Fungi in the form of Mycelium sheets and packaging, combined with Algae as translucent film surfaces, offer a new perspective. Together, they combine stability with flexibility, opacity with translucency, creating sustainable materials that are inviting free association.
Within the “An edible mission. Fusion of Materials_” project, we create objects and spatial compositions made of overlapping, folded, sewn, or glued sheets of Mycelium, combined with translucent or sometimes tinted Algae films. These films act as windows, revealing layers, much like the protective structure of a puparium, where Mycelium forms the frame and Algae provides transparency, allowing light to enter and inviting deeper understanding. Similarly, this little wooden house can also be viewed as a puparium – another beautiful metaphor.
