Straw Return challenges the linear logic of waste by proving that agricultural byproducts can spark material innovation. In a time of climate urgency and resource scarcity, the project offers a tangible path toward circularity—replacing plastics, storing carbon, and enriching soils.
About the Collaboration
Straw Return is a co-creation project between Eleni Karagiannidou of staramaki S.A. and Belgian designer Isaac Monté, that blends artistic exploration with sustainable manufacturing.
Drawing on his long-standing artistic practice with waste-derived materials, Isaac brought a vision of transformation that bridges aesthetics, sustainability and storytelling.
Eleni, architect, with a deep understanding of staramaki’s processes and impact model, coordinated the integration ensuring circularity in business and strategy.
Together, they shaped Straw Return into a model of artistic experimentation and industrial innovation that unlocks regenerative potential from agricultural residues.
