Afterimage

Soft wool transformed into translucent furniture, lighting and spatial objects through resin, colour and light.

Afterimage is a furniture and object collection by Kas Hofman Studio, made from natural wool and transparent resin. It transforms soft fibres into timeless monolithic pieces shaped by depth, colour, tactility and light.

Material Return

Afterimage began as a return to wool, a material Kas Hofman first explored during her master’s project in 2009. In this new direction, wool moves beyond its familiar associations with warmth, softness and naturalness. Combined with transparent resin, it becomes structural, translucent and unexpectedly durable, forming a self-developed composite that acts as both surface and construction.

Light and Depth

Enclosed in resin, the fibres co-create the monolithic form of each piece and build a layered depth within the material. Colours subtly merge, shift and change with light, creating soft translucencies and an organic rhythm within the surface. The interwoven layers hold the gaze and bring a sense of stillness, turning a functional object into a quiet presence for contemplation.

Ongoing Collection

The project started with the Afterimage coffee table and is now expanding into furniture, lighting and spatial objects. By applying the wool-resin composite to new forms, Kas Hofman Studio investigates the relationship between craft, material research, light and sensory perception. Each object invites calm, harmony and a closer connection to material.
