01 ALU EDITION

Designing with aluminium residual streams.

ECHO is a curated design platform exploring a different residual material in each edition. For 01 ALU EDITION, aluminium residual streams serve as the starting point for new products, installations and perspectives on material use.

Residual aluminium

ECHO starts with material that is usually left behind. Each edition focuses on a different residual material and invites designers to explore its qualities, limitations and possibilities.

For 01 ALU EDITION, the focus is on aluminium residual streams from industry. The designers respond to the material that is already there and investigate how it can lead to new objects, furniture, installations and perspectives on material use.

Through curation, ECHO brings together different design approaches and disciplines, allowing a single material stream to be explored from multiple perspectives.

ECHO explores how material can continue beyond its first use, transforming and resonating in new forms.

Participating designers: Atelier Arjen Witteveen, Billie-Jo, Eenvoud Ontwerp, Frank Penders, Frederik Wasseur, Jan-Willem van Elten, Marc Th. van der Voorn, Offsite, MAK Studio, Ritsert Mans, Studio 10-4, Studio Beeks, Studio Jeroen van Veluw, Studio Kars en Boom, Studio Metaform, Studio Wantia ZOWA.
