Project Alter Locatie takes over the Plug-In Paviljoen with a crafting service led by five Contextual Design alumni. From 18-22 Oct, at this temporary chair alteration shop, a different designer each day renovates old chairs from local neighbors.
The model of the program, an alteration shop at small corners of a neighborhood is the walk-in experience of making, fixing, and designing everyday items. Project Alter Locatie invites design talents from Contextual Design to be a service for the objects of the locals with their distinct crafting talents, raising a fundamental question: What becomes of the value of design when gallery-level practice extends into an everyday service? Standing open to everyone off the street, we invite you into this sober setting.
