The Collective Response — Design for Shared Action

Foundation We Are

The exhibition brings together creative practices that explore collaboration, community-building, and collective action. Works shown by Yamuna Forzani, Questions Collective (Tessel BrĂĽhl), Extra Practice, and Bureau Burgerberaad

Taking a stand for collectivity in today’s world.

Our world is currently undergoing significant shifts. We are living through a time when international collaborations such as the European Union are threatened by leaders of nations once considered allies. At the same time, we face a range of interconnected challenges: the climate crisis, economic instability, inequality and injustice, and ongoing wars. Witnessing and confronting these realities as an individual can feel overwhelming.

At a moment when global developments are putting pressure on the structures and communities that work towards solidarity and societal wellbeing, this exhibition asks what it means to come together. It looks at how collective action can create more inclusive societies and explores the ways working collectively can strengthen us, both socially and economically, and ultimately making our lives more engaged.

The presented works highlight what we can learn from the ways creatives collaborate, organise, and build communities. They aim to inspire visitors to seek out collective action themselves, and simultaneously offer a critical reflection on the state of our world.

Its mission is to promote and practice interdisciplinary design while supporting and empowering designers through community- and society-focused projects. Through this work, Foundation We Are develops cross-practice incubators, exhibitions, events, and educational programmes.
