On 23 October, from 14:00 to 17:00, De Klerenpartij takes over Eindhoven’s council chamber. Clothing and textiles finally enter local politics. Expect speakers, motions, debate and a real vote.
Down with the clothing mess
De Klerenpartij is not a real political party. But it does engage in real politics. As long as clothing is made to be thrown away, workers pay the price and waste travels across the world, clothing is not just fashion. Clothing is political. With balaclavas and democratic rituals, we drag the clothing system into the council chamber. Who profits? Who cleans up the mess? And who gets to decide what must change?
According to protocol
The staged council meeting is conducted according to protocol. The chair opens the meeting and De Klerenpartij submits its motions. Council members ask questions, speakers make themselves heard and interests collide. Then comes the voting. Will the motions be carried, or will the clothing mess simply remain?

Admission is free, but democracy has its limits: there are only 100 seats. Advance registration is required. The council meeting will be held in Dutch.
