THE BALL COLLECTION

Sculptural ceramic works shaped through the natural movement of clay, exploring the relationship between material, landscape and form.

The Ball Collection is a body of sculptural ceramic works exploring the formation of landscape through material and movement. Each sphere is shaped by the movement of clay, carrying traces of flow and gravity that recall natural terrains.

Material Movement

Each sphere carries a landscape of its own. The works are created by casting liquid clay into moulds, allowing the material to move during the process. This movement leaves traces of flow, gravity and sedimentation across the surface and form, recalling the forces through which natural terrains are formed and transformed. The colors come from the natural tones of the clay itself, while the exterior remains raw and matte and the interior is finished with a clear glaze.

The Sphere

The sphere is the fundamental unit of the collection. Appearing throughout nature across radically different scales, from stones and particles to the Earth and planetary bodies, it shifts between object, terrain and geological body. When brought together, the individual spheres form a new landscape. Through repetition, proximity and accumulation, they create larger formations that echo landscapes shaped over time by erosion, sedimentation, water and wind.

The Column

The Column extends the language of The Ball Collection from the ground into a vertical structure, transforming a dispersed landscape into a single architectural presence. Through repetition and accumulation, the spherical units form a self-standing formation held in tension between mass and balance. The structure echoes natural formations shaped over time through layering, erosion, and accumulation.

About MTR STUDIO

Mor Tamir Rapoport is a ceramic artist, interior designer, and founder of MTR Studio, working at the intersection of material, form, and space. Her practice examines material through movement, accumulation, and transformation, allowing its properties to shape the work. Drawing from landscapes and geological formations, her sculptural ceramic works explore natural processes of formation and transformation, moving between autonomous objects and spatial installations.
