Keep Your Eyes Peeled

Gazing at the world through cultural identity and craftsmanship.

Recent graduates of the Design Academy of Eindhoven gather at United Cowboys for a group exhibition. Through themes of cultural identity and craftsmanship, each project responds to the world with a critical, reflective, or attentive gaze.

Do you have your eyes peeled? Or are you about to go blind in the encroaching chaos...

Keep Your Eyes Peeled, borrowing the title from an idiom that calls for alertness, is a collection of research projects by emerging designers and artists. Through the themes of cultural identity and craftsmanship, the projects demonstrate a careful and attentive gaze on the world that challenges cultural abstraction and aimless productivity. As the complexity of the world's structure increases at an exponential pace, our judgments are perhaps also becoming too rapid. We are prone to making quick, unattended decisions on how we understand our surroundings. In this mode of observation, generalization and standardization prevail, and unfiltered values are put in the forefront.

Peeled Eyes Exhibition

This exhibition calls for a reconsideration of how we understand the world from various perspectives. It invites viewers to stay alert to whether they are unthinkingly accepting the world as shown, letting values important to humanity die out, and obscuring our own vision of the world. Keep your eyes peeled, or you will get lost.

Pop-up Event

The exhibition is accompanied by a one-time pop-up event that invites viewers to explore its theme through food sculpting.
