Reflections of the Here and Now

Wonder is attention

This installation is a result from my wonder for light and its surroundings. This interaction makes everything around is visible. It is constantly changing and cannot always be captured. Light has taught me to look at my surroundings more consciously and to name everything I see. These little light works created through reflections feel almost intangible; they exist only temporarily and are constantly changing.

These are the little things that catch my attention and that I continuously look for while on the move. They interrupt daily routines and transform the act of moving from one place to another into a moment of consciously experiencing stillness. I want to share this experience to create an awareness of the beauty that exists, often unnoticed, within our everyday surroundings.

Attention is an escape

The society we live in every day is driven by constant forward movement. From one appointment to the next, checking off our to-do lists and preparing for the days yet to come. In between these moments lies time that is often considered unimportant: the journey in between and the surroundings we move through.

By moving through these surroundings with attention, the time between our appointments gains value as well. The journey is no longer simply a way of getting somewhere, but becomes a moment in itself. A moment in which you can slow down and briefly escape from what is expected of you.
