Native Objects from Abroad.

Material full of narratives, retold by foreign yearning eyes.

I see material as all objects cornerstone of cultural narratives.
Coming from Mexico, where craft traditions embody stories and context through materials, I seek to work with similarly culturally rich materials, native to my current to my environment and full of stories to be told.

As my practice evolves and exist within the Netherlands, I yearn to connect with these native culturally rich resources resulting in unexpected convergence of influences, creating a dialogue between inherited and adopted identities

The first part of the“NOfA" collection is the result of this frist convergence. A series of lighting and fruniture objects revolving around the Southern Dutch Kempen sheep breed.
Using waste wool sourced from a Kempen sheep farm in and foraged pine wood collected from the Leenderbos heathlands, I interweave these local material narratives with Mexican basket-weaving and wood working techniques, creating a dialogue between place and tradition.
