Beyond jewellery as we (think) we know it. Beyond our relationship with material and form, as we (think) we know it. Beyond thinking of digital and analog in a binary way. Where to?

BA Jewellery

We understand jewellery and it‘s counterpart everyday objects as the dynamic relationship between material, form, body and space, exploring the intersections of material development, evolving definitions of craftsmanship, old and new traditions and disrupting presumptive rules, resulting in works that engage and push the boundaries of preconceived notions. From plumbing the depths of sampling as an essential human creative act to listening to a natural material and giving it room in the creative process, these graduates propose new ways of understanding jewellery and our essential relationship with it.

MA Jewellery

We expand and shape the broader concept of „jewellery“ and deal in contexts of material and technology, body and space, series and one-offs as well as tradition and innovation. Jewellery is interdisciplinary and international; the jewellery context imparts a special relevance in relation to the body, space, social development, culture and the environment. Porcelain, glass and iron interact with each other, creating fascinating and unexpected textures; human interacts with the earth (or the earth with the human) and shapes form with an intimate relation to the body, and a human intects with the air surrounding a procelain, water and crystal installation, setting reactions in motion. These and more are explorations, facets beyond conventional jewellery definitions.

MADFM: MA Design & Future Making

The critical junctions of culture, society, industry and environment systemsare our playing fields in this multidisciplinary masters program. Investigating meaningfulness and exploring questions, perceptions and ideas in a practical design environment, we experiment at the intersections of analog and digital making, virtuality and materiality and artistic and practice-based research processes. We question existing techniques, processes and methods and explore what „making“ means in the context of possible „futures“. Human interaction gains new perspectives – the unexplained becomes magical, the unexpected playful.
