Summa Fashion and Fontys Engineering students collaborated with fashion designer Anouk Wipprecht on the high-tech clothing line Like Insects. The outfits will be on display at Manifestations and can be experienced live during the fashion show in the Heuvelgalerie on 24 and 25 October.
High-Tech Fashion with a Touch of Nature
Be amazed by Like Insects, the high-tech clothing line inspired by the fascinating world of insects. Summa Fashion and Fontys Engineering students drew inspiration for their designs from the bodies, colours, and unique characteristics of butterflies, bees, moths, centipedes, and more.
The result: innovative and imaginative outfits where technology and fashion merge seamlessly. The garments made their debut at the Crafted Festival and can now be admired up close at Manifestations. The absolute must-see? The spectacular fashion show on 24 and 25 October in the Heuvelgalerie, where the creations truly come to life.
A Creative Blend of Fashion and Technology
Fashion Tech is an inspiring collaboration between Summa Fashion, Fontys Engineering, and designer Anouk Wipprecht. Here, fashion and technology come together in one creative experiment.
Through this project, fashion students discover how technology can elevate their designs, while technical students learn how to use creativity and innovation to develop surprising applications. Under the guidance of Anouk Wipprecht, renowned for her groundbreaking high-tech designs, the students work on spectacular garments that are both visually and technically stunning. Her work is showcased on international stages, and demonstrates how fashion and technology can enhance one another. Fashion Tech shows that the future of fashion is not only beautiful, but also smart.
How Like Insects Came to Be
In January 2025, a unique project kicked off: Summa Fashion students and students from the technical Fontys minor BeCreative joined forces. Creative ideas from the fashion students took shape with the help of the technical knowledge of their Fontys peers.
Under the guidance of Anouk Wipprecht, the teams worked closely together toward a single goal: the development of the high-tech clothing line Like Insects. The process was educational, challenging, and above all, inspiring.
During a professional fashion shoot, the designs were stylishly captured. The clothing line premiered at the Crafted fashion show, where the public got its first look at the impressive creations. A remarkable collaboration between technology and fashion with stunning results.
