The Eggshell Re-Planter is a handcrafted plant pot made from repurposed consumer eggshells. Each pot is naturally rich in calcium carbonate, a valuable nutrient for both plants and soil.

Since the start of the Eggshell Ceramic project in 2019, Atelier LVDW has conducted extensive research into improvement of this bio-material. This waste-based material has not only been enhanced in terms of water resistance and strength, but the production process has also been refined. Through this in-depth exploration of new craftsmanship, Atelier LVDW has gained the expertise to create a diverse range of objects and products with its unique bio-material.
During this years Dutch Design Week, Atelier LVDW is delighted to show a series of Eggshell Re-Planters next to sculptural interior objects made with the same material. Showing the diversity of this waste-stream.
Biodegradable, home-compostable & durable design.
The Eggshell Re-Planter is designed to function as a growing pot, the planter releases essential nutrients back into the earth during repotting, enriching the soil and supporting plant growth. The product also functions as a durable pot for indoor plants thanks to its improved quality.
The Eggshell Re-Planter is not only a sustainable product, but it also encourages the cultivation of homegrown plants and vegetables, contributing to the reduction of food waste by returning valuable nutrients to the soil.
Each pot is handcrafted by Atelier LVDW in her studio in The Netherlands. The studio uses natural and biodegradable colourants such as madder root and biochar. The handmade process makes each pot unique, the designer plays with colors and color blends. This handcrafted method enables customization.
