A home for everyone without barriers, different sounds and voices that we don't hear now. Social label celebrates people as playful beings and works towards an empathetic society. The installation with 4 new labels and a multidisciplinary short movie will be presented at the Social Hub Eindhoven

Sol and the Homecomers (multidisciplinary short film production), a search for a sense of home

Regardless of your background or origin, together we create a world where everyone feels at home. The Social Label Lab is a safe haven where you can just be yourself, where all voices are heard. Sol, he/she, our mascot, stands for happiness and equality. Sol is also the length of a solar day on Mars and keeps the world turning. You get a glimpse into the world we are shaping together. Writer/comedian Katinka Polderman spoke with participants from Social Label ateliers, Cello healthcare, De Winkel die Werkt, and refugee centres Den Bosch about what home means to them. This forms the basis for the scenario “Sol and the homecomers ”. With this multidisciplinary production, we want to send a positive, inclusive message out into the world. The production was performed live and recorded at the Social Label Lab in Den Bosch.

Social label > CHARM

Social label > CHARM (charm bracelet) Charm bracelet in collaboration with artist/designer Ted Noten (Atelier Ted Noten), women from refugee centres/COA 's-Hertogenbosch and Assembly atelier in the Social label Lab. After several sessions, women who had been fugitives from various countries, including Syria, Iraq, Iran, Colombia, Somalia and Eritrea, shared their personal stories. Together with Ted Noten, they searched for symbols that represented their journey during five workshops. Ted Noten designed a piece of jewellery that you can add by putting on twelve charms that express the stories of women from refugee centres. A charm bracelet is a universal piece of jewellery that is known in many cultures.

Social label > COOKIE

Not an ordinary biscuit with your coffee! Every week, the Koekjes Club meets at the Social Label Lab. It is an accessible drop-in centre for people to exchange ideas with an open mind towards other cultures. Smells and flavours remind us of home. Women from all over the world, guided by chef Jamie Adelmeijer, brought in their spices, such as mahleb, which is widely used in Middle Eastern cuisine (including Syria, Turkey and Iran), merkén from Chile, turmeric and cardamom from Asian cuisine (including India and Bangladesh). This resulted in a “multicultural biscuit”, a mix of spices from all kinds of cultures that is tasty and easy to make by hand anywhere. During Dutch Design Week, we are presenting Social Label > COOKIE in a special biscuit tin designed by Studio Boot, with a recipe for you to try yourself. It can be seen in two locations: the LABland installation in the Social Hub and in the women's exhibition Redbox at Strijp-S Eindhoven.
