In response to today’s housing crisis, Foundation We Are and the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague present a short animated film following the Czech initiative Shared Houses. Visit UMPRUM at Foundation We Are to explore a replicable, resilient model of collective living.
Shared Houses
What if homes were more than private property? What if they were reimagined as places of care, resilience, and shared futures? Follow the journey of the Czech non-profit initiative Shared Houses and its projects brought to life in Prague and Děčín.
Scales of Change
Explore housing across multiple scales: from everyday experiences of co-living, through legal and financial frameworks, to wider cultural and economic paradigms, highlighting the systemic nature of the current residential crisis. By removing homes from speculative markets and embedding them in mutual networks, Shared Houses embody a pragmatic, cooperative alternative to the standard housing model.
Resilient Systems
Through documentary footage, interviews, and animations, participatory housing is shown as a set of design interventions connecting material forms and social practices. Architecture thus becomes both space and institution, supporting long-term affordability and resilience.
