On October 26, De Wilde Boerin is hosting a grain sensing experience at Wasvenboerderij. Drop by between 10.30 AM and 6.00 PM to join our workshop, starting every hour on the hour. Each session lasts about twenty minutes and accommodates up to eight participants at a time. No registration required.
GRAIN EXPERIENCE
Grain forms the foundation of farming. It still feeds and shapes our landscapes and lives. During Grain Sensation, we invite you to meet this humble crop in a different way: feel the kernels beneath your bare feet as you walk a grain path, explore its textures while blindfolded, listen as a poem brings its story to life, and taste its pure, unprocessed kernels.
CELEBRATE SENSING
There’s something deeply satisfying about tuning in to your senses. Every touch, taste, sound, smell, and sight is an invitation to slow down, notice, and connect. Sensing is the most immediate way of being present. It asks nothing but your attention, and in return, it offers connection: to your body, to nature, and to the people around you.
DESIGN INSPIRATION
The design of the installation is inspired by an ancient ritual, where the dome symbolizes the womb of Mother Earth. Its pentagon shape represents the five natural elements: water, fire, earth, air, and space. The selection of wheat, barley, rye and spelt is based on local availability.
