Forget me not

52 Bouquets, 365 Images: A Dialogue Between Bloom and Decay.

Niels Hoebers

“Forget Me Not” presents 52 carefully arranged miniature bouquets, captured in their daily decline. Through a blend of photography, digital presentation, and installations, the project invites visitors to discover new perspectives on blossoming, transience, and beauty.

Where It Began

Six years ago, the practice of arranging miniature bouquets for stop-motion animations began. What was initially intended as decoration on a set quickly grew into a fascination with the smallest flowers around us. Suddenly, they became visible everywhere: on the streets, in gardens, along the path from home to studio. Their fragility and transience, but also their perseverance, drew full attention to their delicate world. At that point, a whole year was dedicated to getting to know these plants better and documenting them.

An Ode in Miniature

Forget Me Not is an ode to these often overlooked plants. The exhibition consists of 52 miniature bouquets, each about 15 cm in size, and 365 photographs, inspired by the rhythms of day, week, and year. Each bouquet is carefully composed and documented, capturing both the tiniest details and their gradual decay. In this way, a new world emerges—one where flowers such as Centaury, Stork’s-bill, and Corn Spurrey take center stage, instead of the classic roses and tulips.

The Power of the Hidden

By playing with time, scale, and perspective, I invite visitors to pause, to marvel, and to discover the beauty of everyday micro-life. It is a celebration of perseverance, subtlety, and the extraordinary strength of the smallest among us.
