IED Istituto Europeo di Design – Rural Futures

Corteza Abierta — © IED Madrid

To understand the identity and needs of a territory means listening carefully to those who inhabit it, and acknowledging the cultural and ecological heritage that shapes it.

Intricate relationships between territory, communities and nature.

The projects showcased here respond to the challenges and opportunities of rural environments. They range from tools that foster dialogue within communities through music, to technological devices that monitor forests and safeguard their resources; from digital platforms exploring biomaterials, to editorial publications made with natural pigments; from cultural heritage symbols reinterpreted as reflections on the interplay between nature, culture, and tradition.
