Participation without limits / Design for all

Accessibility starts by designing together with the people who experience barriers every day.

Accessible design starts by listening to people

How do you design an environment in which everyone can participate? Participation Without Limits, Design for All brings physical, social and digital accessibility into practise by combining smart design and lived experience expertise.

Design for everyone

Our presentation starts with the stand itself. Using temporary accessibility solutions, we show how a public space can be usable and welcoming for different visitors from the very beginning.

The stand is not a final model, but a practical example. What is needed to enter independently, find information, take part in a conversation and truly feel welcome?

Accessibility should not be an adjustment added afterwards. It is a quality of good physical, social and digital design.

Experience as knowledge

People with disabilities experience every day where buildings, products, services and information do or do not work. That experience is valuable design knowledge.

During Dutch Design Week, experts by experience from Eindhoven Toegankelijk! engage with visitors, designers, organisations and policymakers. They show why it is important not only to design for people with disabilities, but above all to design with them.

The presentation invites visitors to ask questions, discuss ideas and include accessibility from the very beginning of the design process.

From advice to impact

Through videos and real-life examples, we show how Eindhoven Toegankelijk! works towards a more accessible city.

Our experts by experience assess locations such as schools, polling stations, parks and community centres. They examine whether facilities are truly usable in practice and whether previously given accessibility advice has actually been implemented.

We also contribute to council meetings, organise workshops and advise on policy and projects. Our input has contributed to initiatives including a municipal accessibility grant, the Accessibility Handbook and improvements in public space.

In this way, we connect everyday experience with design, policy and implementation.

About Eindhoven Accessible! Foundation

Eindhoven Toegankelijk! works towards a city in which people with disabilities can live, work and participate equally in social, civic and cultural life.

Lived experience is at the heart of our work. Our experts by experience assess locations, advise organisations and policymakers and check whether accessibility solutions actually work in practice.

By connecting everyday experiences with design, policy and implementation, we make visible where barriers arise and how they can be removed.
