STILLS

A series of wall-based linoleum works. Taken off the ground and made to stay in view.

STILLS reimagines Tarkett linoleum by taking it off the ground and into the room. Fibres, edges, cuts and colours come forward in wall-based works that turn a familiar flooring material into new material compositions.

Taken off

STILLS is a series of wall-based works by Studio RENS, made with Tarkett linoleum. This familiar flooring material leaves the floor and gains a new presence in the room. What was made to cover a surface is now used to build a material composition.

Hidden side

STILLS continues where Lino Undercover (2023) left off. In that earlier research, Studio RENS and Tarkett explored the hidden side of linoleum: the backing, fibres, edges, cuts and colours normally kept out of sight. Here, those material qualities come forward and become part of the work.

In view

Cut, colour and composition find their place. Everything comes to rest. No longer underfoot, the material now faces the room. Designed for interiors where material, colour and presence matter, from workspaces and hospitality to private homes.
