This textile installation by Zahra Doghmani explores how memory, colour and architectural fragments shape our sense of home.Technics and elements such as weaving, archival photographs and spatial compositions help to create an affective memory space.
The Blue -
Blue has always been present in her life: in the walls, windows, doors and objects that surrounded her childhood. She wonders where this colour comes from and why it keeps returning. It feels connected to a place across the sea, a place deeply rooted in memory, yet difficult to fully grasp.
Memory -
Through archival photographs from her parents’ photo albums, fragments of family spaces and memories are revisited. Architectural details such as blue tiles, windows and doors become traces of a place that has changed over time. By translating these fragments into woven textiles, memory becomes something material and spatial.
A Place -
The installation explores home not as a fixed location, but as an emotional and shifting space. The woven elements create a personal landscape where past and present meet. Blue becomes both a thread connecting different places and times.
