"Ciavuru" by Gaspare Como is a series of interactive lamps that respond to touch and movement. These flexible, tactile objects invite users to bend, shape, and play, transforming everyday materials into living sculptures rooted in memory and emotional connection.
Description of the collection: "Ciavuru"
Ciavuru is a collection of light objects born from the interplay of contrasting materials and a desire to rethink the relationship between form, function, and use. Each piece, made from plaster, leather, and metal, introduces a responsive and transformable dimension into the language of design. The works are conceived to be manipulated: light bends, tilts, and shifts direction in response to the user's gestures. Surfaces become fields of interaction, and materials negotiate a balance between structural rigidity and organic flexibility. Ciavuru brings together a series of autonomous yet interconnected devices, marked by a strong artisanal component and a continuous reflection on the body, memory, and spatial experience. Central to the collection are two flexible table lamps, Babbasune and the floor lamp Picciriddu interactive light objects that respond to touch and movement. Made from textile, plaster, wood, and metal, they blend structure with flexibility. Babbasune offers a compact, tactile experience, while Picciriddu expands the gesture into space.
Description of table lamps "Babbasune"
Babbasune is a compact, flexible table lamp designed to respond directly to the user’s actions. Its textile base allows it to bend and tilt, altering both the direction of the light and the object’s spatial configuration. Interaction is central to its form: every movement generates a visual and functional variation. Plaster and metal define the structure, while leather softens the composition, introducing a dynamic quality. Available in two sizes, Babbasune strikes a balance between structural clarity and expressive fluidity. More than just a light source, it functions as a micro- relational device, encouraging engaged and participatory use.
Description of the floor lamp: "Picciriddu"
Made from wood, plaster, and hand-sewn eco-leather, "Picciriddu" is a floor lamp that integrates structural solidity with flexible articulation. A leather extension, crafted and stitched by hand and machine, stretches over three meters into space, forming a presence that adapts and moves with ease. Rigid and soft components coexist in a constructive tension that generates a visually fluid and responsive form. Light follows the movement, transforming the surrounding environment through its changing orientation. This installation offers an experience that goes beyond illumination, opening up a freer, more interactive engagement, while maintaining precision in detail and material consistency.
