Please Be Seated is a collection of sculptural stools and home accessories by BLUBA Studio. The objects combine utility with bold form. 3D-printed from biodegradable PLA, each piece is made to order, supporting small-scale, customizable, and sustainable production.
Designing with attitude
BLUBA Studio is a design practice founded by Kajetan Luteracki, a graduate of both the Faculty of Design at Lodz University of Technology and the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. The studio explores the emotional potential of everyday objects, creating designs that blur the line between function and expression. At the core of this approach is a strong belief that design can be bold, witty, and contemplative all at once. Drawing from the eccentric visual language of the Memphis Group and the optimistic geometry of Space Age aesthetics, BLUBA’s objects embrace curves, color, and a sense of rhythm — all while maintaining a focus on usability and material honesty. Rather than hiding the production process, the studio leans into it: 3D printing is not just a method, but a visual and conceptual anchor for every piece. Made from biodegradable PLA and printed in small batches, each object feels as personal as it is precise — a contemporary response to overproduction and soulless uniformity. In this tension between digital and tactile, between serious and silly, BLUBA finds its voice.
Lights that don’t shout
The BLAMPAS series of modular lamps has become the studio’s signature project — a family of tactile, glowing objects that transform interiors with quiet confidence. Printed in biodegradable PLA using FDM 3D printing, each lamp consists of stackable modules that allow for endless variation and color play. During the day, BLAMPAS lamps stand as sculptural totems; by night, they soften into ambient beacons of warmth. Rather than following trends in minimalist lighting, BLUBA chose to embrace a maximalist approach to form, while dialing down the intensity of the light itself. This contrast — bold outside, subtle inside — defines the emotional character of the lamps. Their layered surfaces visibly record the passage of time spent printing, making the production process an aesthetic feature. And because each lamp is made to order, clients are invited into the design process, choosing combinations that speak to their own taste or spatial context. In doing so, BLUBA turns lighting into a slow, personal ritual — one that’s playful, modular, and gently atmospheric.
From light to matter
In 2025, BLUBA Studio expands its universe with a new collection of 3D-printed furniture — starting with the STOUEK, a sculptural seat that continues the visual language of the BLAMPAS series. Using the same curved geometries, production logic, and biodegradable materials, these new pieces extend BLUBA’s vocabulary into the realm of functional furniture. But while the lamps illuminated spaces, these objects ground them. The STOUEK is printed as a single piece on a large-scale printer, with undulating contours that highlight the additive process. It’s not just a seat — it’s a presence: something between a sculpture, a prop from a sci-fi set, and a domestic artefact with a strange but friendly energy. Available in both bold, multicolor gradients and pared-down monochromes, the stool reflects BLUBA’s ongoing interest in mood-shaping design — not only through light, but through form, scale, and texture. Taken together, the studio’s collections form a cohesive yet eclectic ecosystem of home companions — objects that feel slightly out of place, and maybe that’s exactly why they belong.
