Dungse Labs turns cow dung into building materials, replacing wood, particle board and plastic. Combining Himalayan techniques with modern methods, the materials provide insulation, antimicrobial benefits, water resistance and biodegradability.
From cow dung to material
De zuivelindustrie produceert wereldwijd enorme hoeveelheden mest: één koe 15–50 kilo per dag, in Nederland jaarlijks 76 miljoen ton. Meer dan de helft wordt overtollig afval, wat methaanuitstoot veroorzaakt en boeren duizenden euro’s kost. Ondertussen gebruikt de bouwsector enorme hoeveelheden grondstofintensieve en slecht recyclebare materialen. Tegelijk verbetert het de inkomsten van boeren, het welzijn van koeien, en het milieu.
