In Freedom & Affection

This project observes how people and animals use a park. It illustrates how parks serve as unique breathing spaces, offering freedom and relief from urban life. By capturing, particularly, their joyful interactions, the book highlights the deep, affectionate bond they share in Dommelplantsoen Park.

The Park as a Breathing Space

In the structured landscape of the modern city, parks emerge as vital breathing spaces. This project, set within Dommelplantsoen Park, observes these urban oases through their most unguarded inhabitants: people and their animal companions. It explores how these green sanctuaries offer not just physical release but a profound sense of psychological relief, freedom, and a place to deepen affectionate bonds away from the pressures of daily life.

The bond between a person and their animal is one of pure, unspoken affection. 'In Freedom & Affection' seeks to capture this relationship in its most joyful state within the liberating environment of Dommelplantsoen Park. This book documents how the park becomes a shared haven where both humans and animals can shed the strains of daily life, release energy, and reinforce their connection through simple, peaceful interactions.
