Breath of Hope, an interactive installation by the Esolia collective: designers Dalia de Jongh, Emanuele Borriello and Sonia Jaskiewicz. Presented at United Cowboys, shared breath intertwine, transforming presence and togetherness into a space of connection and hope.
Fracture
When the news is filled with war, climate disasters, and constant crises, it can feel almost impossible to hope. At times, it might even seem wrong as if turning away from the world’s problems instead of facing them.
But if hope only comforts us and does not move us to act, what good is it?
Reflection
Breath of Hope is an interactive installation that invites visitors to reflect on what it means to hope together in a fractured world. Drawing on the tradition of ex-voto offerings, given in gratitude or in hope for healing, our project centers on a simple yet powerful gesture: a shared breath.
Offering
When several people blow air at once, their breath creates enough pressure to form a bubble. The bubble floats upward, carrying their breath, their hope. This is not an act that can be done alone, it requires collaboration and care.
Only then can something fragile rise.
Each bubble marks a shared offering.
A growing archive of breath and longing, created not by one, but by many.
