'How to enter from the exit' is a research-driven project and curatorial experiment reimagining cultural institutions as dynamic, collaborative systems. Through installations and a shared living platform, it explores commons-based practices of care, co-creation, and institutional transformation.

'How to enter from the exit' is a research-driven project and collective curatorial experiment that reimagines cultural institutions as dynamic systems shaped by collaboration, experimentation, and shared knowledge. At a moment when cultural spaces face shifting political, economic, and social pressures, the project asks: What kind of work are institutions doing, and for whom? What should an art institution offer in 2025, and how might it go about doing so?
Using Onomatopee as a case study, the project explores how the power of the commons might be harnessed within cultural practice. The exhibition unfolds through three installations and a shared living platform where cultural workers and visitors are invited to participate, exchange, and practice “work in common.” Rather than treating institutions as fixed structures or content providers, the project frames them as relational processes—emerging through acts of care, maintenance, hosting, and negotiation.
Collective curatorial experiment by Bianca Schick, Cecilia Casabona, Maren Bang, Noam Y. Son and Pete Fung. Graphic identity by Alex Foradori, Bianca Schick. Exhibition design by Paskamer.
Baltan Laboratories’ Take Over at Onomatopee
When: 20-21-22-23 October, 11-18h | Free
'How to enter from the exit' hosts Baltan Laboratories during Dutch Design Week. Baltan will cohabit Onomatopee's space alongside their team through open and collective working sessions, engaging with questions raised by the installations while testing new formats for the future of cultural spaces amid funding limitations and subsidy cuts.
This collaboration will encourage Baltan to rethink their institutional structures and adopt new survival strategies. During DDW25, Onomatopee will open its doors to create a collaborative environment where participants can both perform their work and experiment with forms of mutual support.
Side program: RISO Crashcourse: Code, Click, Print!
Creative Coding & RISO Animation Workshop
Friday, October 24 | 10:00 – 18:00 | Registration needed
Join 11.11 Collective for a one-day crash course during Dutch Design Week 2025, where creative coding meets RISO! Throughout the day, we will experiment with generative coding to create unique digital sketches, bring them to life in After Effects, and eventually translate them into risograph animations. In this experimental workshop, Marvin Sipma, Seven Shepherd, and Sebastiaan Paap will each share their expertise, guiding participants step by step through the entire process on how to make this one-of-a-kind animation.
Places are limited. Secure your spot via Eventbrite and join us for a day of code, color and print during Dutch Design Week 2025!
