Pick a Flower — a 3D-printed ceramic tableware collection inspired by spring 2025 blossom and Benelux pattern archives. Using an in-house studio technique to embed patterns into clay, it reflects on how beauty and memory transform through technology.
Process
Pick a Flower is a 3D-printed ceramic tableware collection by GLINA³, an Amsterdam-based design studio working at the intersection of craft, technology, and cultural memory. The project began with an archival discovery — a rare book of historical Benelux craft patterns found in a local library.
Each pattern was carefully scanned, digitised, and reinterpreted through contemporary design tools. In parallel, we collected visual material from Dutch parks and gardens, photographing real flowers and translating their organic forms into digital geometry. From both sources — the physical archive and the living landscape — we selected motifs that resonated intuitively, combining them into a new hybrid visual language.
Using our in-house 3D clay printing method, we embedded these patterns directly into ceramic surfaces, transforming fragile floral memories into tangible design objects. Pick a Flower reflects on the act of choosing and on how beauty, nature, and memory evolve through technology and digital craft.
