Playing with weapons

Questioning the meaning of safety

Playing with Weapons urges us to move beyond back-room politics and confront the true cost of security, questioning who benefits when freedom is enforced through destruction.

Would you give up safety for less fear in the world?

At first glance, these soft objects appear playful or harmless, yet they are life-sized replicas of bombs, missiles, and nuclear weapons created to ensure safety. Yet that safety always creates fear for others. This raises an important question: Would you give up safety for less fear in the world?

Among them lies the B61-12 nuclear bomb (exhibited at foundation we are), "secretly" stored at Volkel Air Base, capable of killing half a million people. Our involvement with weapons is closer to home than we often admit. In today’s geopolitical reality, owning or producing weapons carries destructive consequences.
